Pete Williamson

good question and I definitely resonate with Piper's words. it's not easy to decide what to do with the vocabulary of warfare. for those who belong to Christ it is completely appropriate to speak of being engaged in conflict with our own sin, the temptations provided by our culture, and the opposition of Satan. the problems arise when you place people who are not part of your "team" in the position of enemy. it seems to me Paul is addressing exactly this problem when he writes the Ephesians about the battle not being against flesh and blood, but against spiritual powers and authorities. if that's so, what does that mean? I'm asking this even as I'm working on my sermon out of Luke 4:31-44 which includes Jesus casting out demons, by the way.
